If the car's exhaust system is working properly, dangerous gases are carried from the engine and out the back of your vehicle by way of the tailpipe. If you listen very carefully, you might be able to hear when the exhaust system is experiencing issues. Near the tailpipe you might hear a loud whistle if there is a pressure issue. Near the engine, you'll hear a popping and hissing at the manifold when leaking is occurring. Vibrations can indicate a leaking pipe or issue with the muffler. You'll feel that vibration when you are inside the vehicle and sitting in the driver's seat. Feel the steering wheel for a new type of vibration, or place your foot on the gas pedal to feel a vibration.
